Are you interested in helping people to recover from illness and injury? Do you like working with patients in a personal capacity? Would you like to be a part of the respected medical community? If you answered yes to any of these questions, you might be a candidate for career training from a pharmacy school.

According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, the employment trend of pharmacy school grads is expected to grow faster than average in the coming decade. From medical facilities to chain drugstores, candidates with degrees from accredited pharmacy schools can achieve high annual salaries and great professional responsibility. And because the career training program for pharmacists is going high-tech, there has never been a better time to begin a program.

Career Training in Pharmacy

  • Drug Therapy. Pharmacy schools train their students in the methods of pharmacogenics: how genetic variations in genes can affect a body's response to a drug. Advances in this field will improve the way we use drug therapies.
  • Bioterrorism. Because pharmacy professionals are trained to identify and treat the symptoms caused by biological weapons, they will be a primary source of care for those exposed. They will also distribute approved counter drugs.
  • Technology. This career training includes the use digital innovations that improve drug research and patient tracking. Pharmacy professionals use these tools to improve the services they provide.

There are several facets of our national healthcare system that will thrust pharmacy school graduates into the spotlight. In particular, a surge in the elderly population is expected to provide many employment opportunities for qualified candidates with career training or distance education in pharmaceuticals.

More Pharmacy Job Opportunities

  • Patient Services. Pharmacies are seeing an increased demand in the number of services they provide their patients and a variety in practice settings.
  • Filled Prescriptions. The number of prescriptions filled increased from 1.9 million in 1992 to over 3.1 million in 2002, according to the National Association of Chain Drug Stores.
  • Available Drugs. An increase in the number of prescription and over-the-counter medications will require a broader knowledge base.

The pharmaceutical field will see unprecedented growth in the coming decade. And career training from an accredited pharmacy school is your first step to become a part of it.
