Love to travel? Why not make a career out of it? Redefine "distance learning" while pursuing an online travel and tourism degree.

Who doesn't love a vacation? Time off for R&R can be great, but the stress involved in planning a trip can frustrate even the most determined traveler. Hence, travel agents organize logistics like airline and hotel reservations for business and pleasure travelers alike. They may also promote travel packages such as cruises or organized tours.

Distance Learning--No Travel Required!

Ironically, you can now fulfill all the academic requirements for a degree or diploma in travel and tourism without ever leaving the house. Many educational institutions offer online travel and tourism degrees. Although programs differ by school, most travel and tourism degrees will train you in the tools of the trade, from basic computer and Internet skills to more advanced entrepreneurial skills like self-promotion and business management.

One-Way Ticket to a Career

While travel agent jobs aren't as plentiful as careers in healthcare or education, many well-trained, self-starting individuals have hammered out successful careers in tourism and travel. According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, agents specializing in travel to particular destinations and agents who focus on particular travel niches (including business travel and luxury tours) are likely to experience the greatest success.

When you consider perks like discounted travel and the ability to work from home, what's not to like about a career in travel and tourism? And since distance learning programs allow you to study where and when it's convenient for you, you can begin your career education from wherever your wanderlust takes you!
